Two MSc theses developed as part of European project SafeCloud awarded by AP2SI

André Joaquim and Diogo Raposo, members of the SafeCloud team and students at Instituto Superior Técnico, have respectively received a Merit Award and an Honourable Mention from AP2SI, the Portuguese Association for the Promotion of Information Security, for their MSc theses titled "vtTLS: A Vulnerability-Tolerant Communication Protocol" and "MACHETE: Multi-path Communication for Security".

The prize for the first Merit Award for Masters in the area of ​​Information Security was € 1000, received by André Joaquim’s advisor, Miguel Correia. The prize for the Honourable Mention was € 250. It is important to stress that both students have developed the two master theses as part of European project SafeCloud and, in addition, they have published papers in relevant conferences in this research area.

Coordinated by INESC TEC, the project features as partners Cloud&Heat and Technische Universität München (both from Germany), Cybernetica (Estonia), INESC-ID and Maxdata Software (both from Portugal) and Université de Neuchâtel (scientific and technical coordinator, Switzerland).

The award ceremony was held on April 11 in Lisbon and it was attended by the Chairman of AP2SI, Jorge Pinto, as well as the jury, composed of Bruno Morisson, Carlos Serrão, Sérgio Nunes and Paulo Viegas Nunes, and Isabel Baptista, who was representing Professor Pedro Veiga.
