SafeCloud European project ended with excellent assessment

On 27 September, it took place the third and final assessment by the European Commission on the SafeCloud project. With an investment of over EUR three million, this project focuses on the area of the infrastructures in the cloud, that despite its advantages, still present several challenges of safety, privacy and integrity in the data storage and processing.
The main goal of the project is to develop specific solutions that ensure the users of cloud computing services that both the storage and the processing of data are carried out in a completely secure and private way.
According to Rui Oliveira, INESC TEC’s member of the Board and responsible for the project, the SafeCloud project was a success in every sense. It was composed of a very competent and cohesive team that according to one of the evaluators, “fulfilled all the criteria with an excellent performance”. Rui Oliveira also states that the project leaves a set of results in a commercial operating phase and a considerable range of scientific and technological challenges to be followed.
The partners of this European project included the Université of Neuchatel (Switzerland), the Technische Universität München and the Cloud & Heat GMBH (Germany), the Cybernetica AS (Estonia), the INESC TEC, INESC-ID and the Maxdata Software (Portugal).
The SafeCloud project was developed under the research and development programme of the EU Horizon 2020, with a total budget of €3.298.988.
